He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Alice Carpenter.
Joe was self-employed as a carpenter for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mollie Franklin Carpenter, two daughters and son-in-law, Shari (Lee) Wooten of Rocky Face and Sandy Stroud of Tunnel Hill, three sons, Greg Carpenter, Mark Brown and Kelly Brown, all of Rocky Face, one sister, Carolyn Tate of Rocky Face and Raymond Carpenter of Hendersonville, NC, grandchildren, Beth (Evan) Hawkins, Staci Wooten, Kennedy Stroud, Jade Brown, Tanyon and Katie Brown, great-grandchildren, Jaylyn, Gavin, Sawyer and Maggie, several nieces, nephews and special friends and extended family through the years.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 pm on Monday, April 6, 2020 at Dunagan Cemetery with Rev. Chuck Harmon officiating
