TRUMANSBURG -Vicki S. Hendrix, age 47, of 5304 Curry Road, died at her home on Sunday, July 12, 2010 following an extended and valiant fight against cancer.
Vicki was born in Ithaca on December 16, 2010 and lived in the Ovid area until after her graduation from South Seneca High School in 1980. She attended business school and worked with her father at Ronnie's Body Shop for several years. She was employed at Hearth & Home and Arnold Printing in Ithaca, and 10 years ago, found her niche at the Tompkins Co. Soil & Water Conservation District where she served as the secretary/treasurer. Despite her busy schedule, she also found time to serve as book keeper for Dr. Richard Orzeck of the Trumansburg Veterinary Clinic and Steve Williams of Seneca Heating, in addition to providing income tax services for friends and family. Not only was Vicki an outstanding mother to her own children, but she made the Hendrix household "home" to many young people in Trumansburg. She had an incredible zest for life, and found great joy in the past few years travelling with her family and learning to appreciate the special moments in life.
She is survived by her husband and best friend of over 30 years, Brooks H. Hendrix, a daughter, Danielle (Jason) Plumber of Colorado Springs, CO, and a son, Brooks Hendrix II of Trumansburg, her father, Ronnie (Cindy Waid) Steve of Ovid her mother, Judy Steve of Ovid; sisters, Terri Steve of Atlanta, GA and Veronica Trifoso of Elmira, her nieces, nephews and their children, along with several aunts and uncles. Vicki was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel L. Steve in 2007.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00pm on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Covert Funeral Home, 7199 So. Main Street, Ovid, NY. A reception, to which all are invited, will also be hosted by the family from 6:30pm on Saturday, at the American Legion Post #770, 4331 Seneca Road in Trumansburg.
