Mattie was the daughter of Willie Harris Sr and Lucile Gilbert Harris. She was educated in the Peach County School System. She attended the Walker Beauty Academy in Warner Robins, Georgia where she earned her license in Cosmetology. She was employed with ASKA's Beauty Supply in Fort Valley, Georgia as a clerk. She also worked as a self employed hair dresser. She lived in the Griffinline community of Fort Valley for many years until her health failed and she moved to Warner Robins, Georgia to live with her daughter, Gloria. She was known for making many blackberry pies after her children picked the berries and brought them home to her. She joined to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Valley, Georgia, which she could walk to, at a young age. She regularly attended Sunday School and served on the Ushers Board until her health prevented. She was also a member of the Usher's Union and the Prince Hall Chapter O.E.S. Jurisdiction of Georgia, Pride of Fort Valley No. 480.

Mattie was married to Elijah Hill, they had 5 children. She later married Daniel Charles Williams. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Willie Harris Jr, a cousin she was raised with, Charles Cobb and 1 grandson, Kenton Crawford II.

Survivors:
3 Daughters: Nadine Hill Ross Stephens(Grover), Gloria Hill Watson Wright and Venie Hill Crawford(Kenton "Cricket").
2 Sons: Johnny Richard Hill and Lenard Hill(Norma).
2 Step-Daughters: Ernestine Williams and Josephine Williams.
1 Step-Son: Eddie Williams.
1 Sister: Elizabeth Harris White.
4 Nieces, 1 Nephew.
6 Grandchildren: Tiffany Hill Dickson, Charles Watson II, Gita Wright, Alvin Ross Jr, Travis Ross and Brandon Ross.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 11AM in the Willow Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Valley, Georgia with Minister Ezekiel Harvey officiating.
