He was married to Sharon McNally of Dalton, Georgia in 1967. They had one son, James Nelson Britt, III and resided in Mableton, Georgia. They were divorced in 1991.
In 1992, he married his second wife Christine York, of Clayton, Ga. They resided in Winston, Georgia. She preceded him in death on New Year's Eve 2014.
Jim enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, archery, and pulling for the Georgia Bulldogs!
He was survived by his son James N. Britt, III, his daughter-in-law, Ronda Mullinax Britt, and his granddaughters Taylor Britt and Jordan Britt, all of Dallas, Ga; a brother, Eddie Britt of Ellenwood, Ga; a sister, Patricia Britt White, of Stockbridge, Ga.; and a brother, Scott D. Britt, of Cumming, Ga.
