Sandra Lynn Sanford was born on February 26, 1962, to Benny Scroggins Cook and Shirley Mae Dill in Oklahoma City, the youngest of four siblings and their only daughter.
Sandra graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1980. During high school she started working at Altec Lansing. At nineteen years old, she attended a church revival service at Friendship Chapel after her friend from work, Lorene Payne, prayerfully persisted and she gave her heart to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. At that same church, she met the love of her life, Gerry Key Sanford. After dating for a bit of time, they were married on December 23, 1983. In 1984, she joined the United States Postal Service as a mail sorter. She worked for the Post Office for 28 years. Sandra enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and serving at her church, Bethesda Assembly of God, in Oklahoma City. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and every aspect of her life showed that dedication.
She modeled her life after these words, βThe deepest level of worship is praising God through the pain, thanking God during the trials, trusting Him when we are tempted to lose hope, and loving Him, even when He seems distant. At my lowest, God is my Hope. At my darkest, God is my Light. At my weakest, God is my Strength. At my saddest, God is my Comforter.β
Sandra is survived by her son, Jerrad Allen Sanford; daughter, Candace Denaye Wright and husband, Zachary; brothers, Ronald Cook, Clifton Cook, and Terry Sanford and wife, Vickie; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents; brother, Benny (Junior) Cook, and husband, Gerry.
