Sarah Alice (Sneed) Cummings was born on August 5, 1944 to Robert James and Delphia Derotha (Spears) Sneed. After graduating high school, she became a nurse’s aide. She worked in hospitals and later in nursing homes caring for patients. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles to keep her mind sharp, and she loved spending time with her family.
Sarah departed this life on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at her home in Chouteau, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children, Franklin Delano Roosevelt Butler; a brother, Robert Eldon Sneed; her twin sister, Mary Ellen Hillhouse; and four grandchildren.
Those left to cherish Sarah’s memory are her children and their spouses, Earnest Eugene Butler of Indiana, Jimmy Eugene Butler and Susan of Stella, Missouri, Nancy Louise Moore and Barry of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Melissa Ilene Lewallen and Marty of Tulsa, Oklahoma; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Flosie Darlene Blank and Buddy of Checotah, Oklahoma and Susan Oleta Hughes and Ronald of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; many other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Mallett Funeral Home and Crematory. Private interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery with Earnest Butler, Jimmy Butler, Curtis Butler, Barry Moore, Kelly Rowe, Marty Lewallen and Todd Lewallen serving as pallbearers. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
