Wyoming – Robert Nicholas Franzen, 81, of Wyoming, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Toulon Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Robert was born on May 22, 1938 in Oak Park, the son of William and Marie (Zupke) Franzen. He married Gladys Edwards on August 6, 1966; she survives.

Also surviving are one son, William Franzen of Winfield; one daughter, Christa (Donald) Franzen-Garrison of Wyoming; three grandchildren, Arianna (Ryan Gilles) Franzen, Madelyn (Matthew Wilson) Cozad, and Brandon (Mackenzie Brown) Franzen all of Wyoming; one great-grandson, Connor; one great-granddaughter, Grace; three brothers, Jim (Sue) Franzen of Chicago, Jerry Franzen of Michigan; and Roger Franzen of Chicago; three sisters, Darlene (Don) Klueg of Schaumburg, Deborah Grumad of Carpentersville, and Barbara (Bob) Gonke of Norridge. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Howard Franzen; one sister, Evelyn Franzen; and one brother-in-law, Casey Grumad.

Robert worked as a teacher for the former Wyoming High School and Stark County High School, where he taught government, social studies and history before retiring in 2000. He was a Northern Illinois University alumnus, and former owner of Stuf ‘n Things in Wyoming. He was a member of the Wyoming United Methodist Church.

There will be no public services at this time. Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Wyoming is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stark County Ambulance, Kewanee Animal Shelter, Toulon Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center or Wyoming Fire Department.
