Jack W. Hamilton passed away on March 23, 2020, at the age of 95.
Jack was born in 1924 in Yoder to Tex and Vina Hamilton, where he spent most of his childhood farming and ranching. He joined the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) in his teens before joining the War effort. Jack was a member of the 81mm Mortar Platoon, HQ Co, 1/28, 5th Marine Division and served at Iwo Jima during WWII.
Upon completion of his Marine tour, Jack came back to Wyoming and was a cowboy through and through. He rode bareback broncs, roped and performed as a clown in rodeos all over the state. He spent most of his time in Yoder and Cody but travelled all over the state. He then moved his family to Oregon where he owned his own landscaping company, before returning to his beloved state of Wyoming in 1982.
Jack loved camping, hunting, fishing and ranching. He spent the majority of his life on the back of a horse. He always had a story to tell and was a friend to all. He was full of knowledge and willing to share it with anyone. He loved classics like John Wayne and Gene Autry. With his signature unlit cigar, cowboy hat and boots, he was a hard man to miss.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tex and Vina Hamilton, five sisters, three brothers, two sons, Mike Hamilton and Tracy Hamilton, a daughter, Penny Isgrigg Hamilton, and two grandchildren, Rebecca and Eric. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hamilton of Wheatland, two sons, Monte Hamilton and Toby Hamilton, a daughter, Cody Sue (Bobby) Anderson, seven granddaughters, six grandsons, numerous great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Katy Hamilton.
