John Marion Ames was the son of David & Nancy Davis Ames. He married Janie Constanse Pentecost.

As with his father David, we begin in 1850 Ross, Lake, Indiana in the household of William N Sykes 41, we find David Ames 30, Nancy Ames 30, Cynthia Ames 18 (uncertain age), John Ames 5, George Ames 3, Sarah F Ames 7 (this age is wrong because we find out later on that George and Sarah Frances are twins.)
