Once Upon A Time...
A baby girl named Janice was born in the realm of Fort Worth to the honorable House of Laird. This was no ordinary girl, for a Great and Wondrous Being endowed this child with a very special power. This special power is simply this: Whosoever shall hear the rhythm of her voice, feel the warmth of her laughter, witness the light of her smile, or look into the truth of her kind eyes shall henceforth forever feel her love and will forever be better because of it.
And it came to pass that her remarkable parents and her exceptional brother looked upon Janice and felt her love. In time, the child grew into a fair young maiden. A brave young knight looked upon her and felt love. They were united in marriage. Now, as a fair woman of the House of Brewer she and her Knight brought forth three children. These children looked upon their mother and felt love. The young family went on many wonderous adventures. And all the people of all the land . . . nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, in-laws, friends, neighbors . . . they looked upon her and felt her love. And sometimes, Janice's family embraced each other as they had to say goodbye to some of their own beloved along the way. Four notable goodbyes during their grand adventures together include the young noble Sir Jack Dan and the fair and kind Lady Carrie, both of House Brewer, as well as her loving parents, Delmar and Winnie Merle of House Laird.
In time, and after many adventures together, Lady Janice and her Knight, Burlin Larry, were blessed with the joy of many grandchildren. Each and every one of her grandchildren looked upon Janice and felt her love.
It came to pass that the years took their toll on Sir Larry, and she held her children once again as they came together and said goodbye. Yet, her adventures continued as she was blessed with another grandchild and then many more great-grandchildren.
One dark night, Janice, whose body had been weakened by time, was unable to survive a great and passing storm. Yet, this was not the end of Janice's story. The Great and Wondrous Being who gave her this simple yet immeasurable power, looked upon her during every step of her humble and joyous adventure and He felt her LOVE. This Great and Wondrous Being happens to be The King of Kings. He rules over the mightiest Kingdom. He lifted Janice up to His Kingdom. She realized immediately her body was no longer ravaged by the years as she had indeed been made whole again. She felt the warm, familiar embrace of her mother, Winnie Merle Laird. And then the embrace of her father, Delmar Laird, as well. She felt a soft hand on her shoulder, saw the caring eyes of Carrie Brewer, and then Jack Dan Brewer's contagious smile. They looked upon her and they felt her love, for even in this great new land she still had her simple yet undeniable power to share love.
And then she saw him. It was her Brave Knight, her Beloved Husband. He too was made whole. With one hand he held hers and with the other he wiped away her tears of joy. The two of them looked past the Kingdom walls and could see their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They lovingly watched them all as they each went on their own adventures and shared what they had felt with families of their own. And even though life's adventures can be seemingly impossible to overcome, every single person who ever knew her was just a little more ready for those challenges . . .because they felt Janice's love.
Janice Kay Brewer was born on June 12, 1950 in Fort Worth to Winnie Merle and Delmar Laird. She passed away in Denton on March 30, 2020. She was married to Burlin Larry Brewer on June 21, 1968. Larry Brewer passed away on July 4, 2007.
Janice is survived by her brother, Steven Laird and wife, Jean Laird; her daughter, Valarie Meadows and husband, Richard Meadows; her son Burlin Larry Brewer, Jr. and wife, Shauna Brewer; her son Ronald Brewer and wife Kate Brewer; her sister-in-law Shirley Darlene Pharris; her brother-in-law Michael Brewer; her brother-in-law Randel Brewer and wife, Katherine Brewer; brother-in-law Dudley Brewer. Janice was lovingly known as "Mammaw" and is survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as one on the way. She was loved and will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well.
Anyone who ever knew Janice knows that, above all else, she loved her family and we are all better off because of it.
