HANOVER PARK - John William Zeigler, 80, passed away peacefully with his family around him on July 2, 2017 at Advocate Sherman Hospital while under JourneyCare hospice care. Born in Dayton, PA to Harold and Dorothy Zeigler, he lived much of his life in Hanover Park, IL. John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie S. Zeigler (nee Kammerdiener), sons and daughters William Zeigler and his life partner Beverlee Fichera, Joyce (Roger) Bumgarner, Marjorie (Art) Meredith, Rodney Zeigler, and Roger (Diane) Zeigler. Grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) Olsen, Roger (Evelynn) Kennedy, Ray Meredith, Wendy Zeigler and great-grandchildren Daphne and Cosmo Kennedy. John is preceded in death by his grandson James Zeigler. John was a veteran of the US Navy and a longtime employee of Elgin Community College. Memorial Donations may be made to Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AAMDS). A private memorial will be held at a later date.
