Joyce Laverne Appleby, 94, passed away on March 31, 2020 in Madison, FL. Joyce was born March 27, 1926 in Sanford, Florida to Napoleon Harrell and Dora May Oglesby Harrell. She was a graduate of Seminole High School in Sanford. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Lake Monroe Baptist Church. She was a homemaker in her early adult life, but later worked as a convenience store manager for Little Champ Markets until her retirement. Joyce was a devoted mother who loved her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and traveling.
She was preceded in death by; her parents, Napoleon and Dora May Harrell; her husband, Lionel “Buddy” Appleby, a son, Jimmy Eber, a brother, Billy Harrell, and 2 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by; 2 daughters, Shirley Wilson, and husband Buddy, of Paola, FL, and Susan Bell, and husband James, of Lee, FL; 2 step-sons, Charles and Brian Appleby; 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A private graveside funeral service will be held in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Lee, FL with Bro. Matt Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Southern Living for Seniors 765 NE Delphinium Dr, Madison, FL 32340. All arrangements are under the care of Burns Funeral Home of Madison.
