Anthony J. Adamec of Hudson Avenue passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Albany Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 87. Born in Menands on July 16, 1931, son of the late Francis and Frances (Haspala) Adamec. He was the husband of the late Florine (Lewis) Adamec.

A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., serving during the Korean War, he was honorably discharged in 1954. He worked as a machine operator for the Westvaco Pulp and Paper Company of Mechanicville. He went on to work as a lab technician for General Electric in Waterford retiring in 2001. Anthony enjoyed a good polka hop, playing darts and bowling. He was an avid fisherman, a member of the local rod and gun club, a talented stone mason and a master craftsman. He was happiest when he was busy.

Survivors include his children, Theresa (Michael) Bracken of Palm Bay, Fla., Anthony (Cheryl) Adamec Jr. of VanBuren, Ohio, Colleen Adamec (Joe Robison) of Stillwater and Frank (Kathy) Adamec of Stillwater. Also survived by his grandchildren, Frank (Chelsea) Adamec Jr. of Stillwater, Anthony Adamec III of Waterford and Casey Adamec of Clifton Park; and a niece, Pat (Bob) Wilcox and their daughter Hannah of Westerlo. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, a daughter, Linda Adamec; and a grandson, Scott Bracken. Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, July 23, at 10 a.m. in St. Michael's Church, 36 Page Ave., Cohoes.

Burial with military honors will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Mechanicville. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are requested to the Stillwater Food Pantry, P.O. Box 480, Stillwater, NY, 12170 or dropped off at the Stillwater United Church, 747 N. Hudson Ave., Stillwater.
