Stephen "Steve" L. Gray, 68, of Anderson, passed away March 29, 2020, unexpectedly at Community Hospital, Anderson.
Steve was born April 26, 1951, to Franklin E. Gray and Jean M. (Fox) Gray Bricker.
Steve retired in 2006 from General Motors after 31.8 years of employment. Upon his retirement, Steve became a regular at Grandview Golf Course. During the summer months, Steve would be playing rounds with the "Gangsomes". He was a member of the men's club, and enjoyed participating in several benefit tournaments yearly. He enjoyed watching golf, NASCAR, Butler basketball, Indiana Hoosiers, especially the Bobby Knight days.
Steve would always set aside the winter months to travel with his beloved wife, Karen (Biven) Gray, whom he just celebrated 50 years of marriage with. Because of the virus, their Aruba trip was cancelled, but he was able to get take out from his favorite Mexican restaurant, Riviera Maya. Steve would leave the month of October available for the trips to Florida with Karen, their kids, and grandkids for fall break.
Through the years, Steve could be seen on the basketball court refereeing, coaching, or just sitting on the sidelines watching. He enjoyed coaching both his kids when they were young in many different baseball or softball leagues.
Steve was a 1970 graduate from Frankton High School. Steve never met a stranger, and was known by many.
Besides his lovely wife, Karen, left to cherish his memories are his children, Lee (Kaisha) Gray and Kelli (Quincy) Flatford, all of Anderson; grandchildren, Lexi (Landon Gates) Gray, Jordan Gray, Jacoby Gray, Cody (Kirsten) Flatford of Indianapolis, and Nick (Haley Brown) Flatford, of Anderson; sister, Janice (Chuck) Riddle; brother, Terry (Debbie) Gray of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Cindy Biven of Kentucky; brother-in-law, Rick (Susie) Biven of Texas; stepsiblings, Sherry (Brian) Ditton of Anderson, Laura (Preston) Ellis, Betty (David) Vandevander, Anita (Ron) White, Sylvia (Donald) Young, David (Susan) Bricker, all of Florida, Randy (Denise) Bricker of Columbus; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Aside from his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his stepfather, Billy Bricker; his in-laws, Bobby and Frances Hoppes; two brothers, Mike and Dennis Gray; and his aunt, June Collins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Steve's name to the Frankton Boys Basketball. Watching the Fighting Eagles was one of Steve's many passions.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, family will hold a private service, with a celebration of life at a later date.
