Vanieca Diane Martin Irby peacefully passed into the gates of Heaven the early evening before Easter following a long battle against illness. She was ready and eager to meet her dear Jesus face to face. She was preceded by her cherished "Daddy," Kenneth "Jake" Martin, beside whom she was promised to be laid at rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Vanieca's favorite hobbies were cooking, gardening, and home decorating. She excelled in these three hobbies, and was fabulously talented as a pianist. This great gift for the piano was used by her to glorify God for many years as a church pianist. She played with great energy and confidence. Vanieca's personality was very vibrant and outgoing. Her sparkling brown eyes and beautiful smile lit up her face and drew people to her like a magnet! These qualities were very helpful to her in her positions in sales for several companies. Her enthusiasm for sales fit her personality perfectly.

Her health declined in her sixties, leaving her without sight or mobility at the end. God mercifully took her to Heaven on Easter Eve while alone in her room at Alpine Nursing Home in Ruston, LA. The nurse had just checked on her, and she was showing no difficulties. Her heart just stopped, and she was gone. No one could rejoice more than Vanieca to enter her long-awaited Heaven, for life on Earth had been full of many heartaches. She totally forgave anyone that had hurt or wronged her. She was amazing in her capacity to love and forgive. One of her final regrets was that she never saw her new granddaughter Willow. Hopefully now she can see her from Heaven!
