Barbara married George Washington Tracey on December 24, 1874 in Piatt County, Illinois. They had three sons: James Henry (1875-1909); Urban Theodore (1879-1956); and William George (1881-1897). Barbara died within three weeks after her son William was born. Her three sons lived with her parents for a period of time. In 1895, the two oldest sons were living in McPherson, Kansas with Barbara's sister, Mary Vaniman. The youngest son went to Darke County, Ohio to live with Barbara's mother, Caroline Kuns', brother, John Spidel, in Darke County, Ohio.
