Graveside services for Winnie Blanche Wurst, 98 of Bridgeport, TX. are scheduled for 2:00 PM Thursday June 27, 2013 at Muleshoe Memorial Cemetery in Muleshoe, TX, with Bro. Ron Medford officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 Pm Wednesday June 26, 2013 at Roberts Funeral Home in Healdton.
Winnie, the youngest of 17 children, was born July 21, 1914 in Floyd County, TX to Charles Carlton and Sally Virginia "Sullivan" West. She passed away peacefully on Sunday June 23, 2013 at her daughter Charlene's home in Bridgeport, TX. Winnie graduated from High School and attended college for a couple of years. She and Kermit Russell Volkman were married on January 4, 1934 in Gainsville, TX, making their home in Muleshoe. Winnie was employed as a Home Health Nurse for several years. Winnie was a member of Church of the Nazarine of Muleshoe for 65 years. She enjoyed doing puzzle books, playing dominoes and card games and she loved taking care of her chickens. She would ride her golf cart down to the chicken pen to feed them.
She lived with her surviving daughters for the last 13 years, Pearlene Bray of Healdton and Charlene Blaylock of Bridgeport, TX she is also survived by a son Jerry Don Coulter of Saginaw, TX. Winnie was blessed with 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Elenor Jane Coulter; 4 brothers and 12 sisters.
