Clyde, Doris Johnson Powell went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

She is survived by her loving husband, of 63 years, John N. (Sam) Powell; son, Sammie Powell; grandson, Tate Powell; many beloved nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, Pat Powell; and sisters-in-law, Gail Powell and Joan Ensley.

May God bless her family, friends, caretakers (Sam Powell and Judy Plemmons, along with many others), Hospice, the staff at Haywood House, and those who cared for her during the last years and days of her life.

Thanks also to the many friends, clients, employees, who supported her in a business she created and loved (Powell’s Hair Fashions) for over 50 years. Doris was president of the Business Club in Clyde and was instrumental in getting the first flag placed in Clyde for over 100 years without having one.

Considering the current public health situation, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

The care of Mrs. Powell has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Homes and an online memorial register is available at “Obituaries” at www.wellsfuneralhome.com
