Funeral services for Mona Adams, 88, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, in the Phillips & Luckey Chapel with burial in the Salty Cemetery. Rev. Bill Fulton of Trinity Methodist Church, Thorndale, officiated.
Mrs. Adams died Thursday morning, Nov. 23, in Richards Memorial Hospital, Rockdale. She had been a lifelong resident of the Thorndale area.
She was born Aug. 29, 1907 in the Salty Community to Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Arthur (Fannie Jane Williams) Caffey.
She was a homemaker.
She and Preston George Adams, Sr. were married Sept. 9, 1930. Her husband preceded her in death May 2, 1976.
Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by a sister, Ella Rhae Caffey Gibson; also by a grandchild.
Survivors include two sons, Preston George Adams of Rockport and Billy Joe Adams of Taylor; five daughters, Bonnie Jean Carey of Waco, Barbara Jane McDaniel of Thorndale, Martha Nell Lehman of Houston, Margaret Ann Von Gonten of Rockdale and Wanda Faye Walther of Copeland; a sister, Thelma Gladyne Gregory of Rockdale; also 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Mickey McDaniel, Louis McDaniel, Kenneth Von Goten, Christ Adams, Steve Lehman, Jack Lehman, Joel Lehman, Greg Carey, Cliff Carey and Clay Carey.
Mrs. Adams was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, Thorndale. Her interests included working crosswords, quilting, crocheting, gardening and playing cards and games with her grandchildren and family.
