Dorothy L. Hill Day, 86, of Muncy, died Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Muncy Place.

Born June 13, 1933 in Muncy, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Thelma (Schanbacher) Nunn.

Dorothy served as secretary of Mill Creek Township for many years and retired from the East Lycoming School District where she had worked in the cafeteria for several years. She was a member of Huntersville United Methodist Church, Huntersville Senior Citizen Group, and the Muncy Valley Moose. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra A. (Leo) Hartz of Tampa, FL and Bonnie L. (Fred) Houseknecht of Hughesville; four sisters, Shirley Wright of Montoursville, Mary Ellen Nunn of Muncy, Jane McCowan of Picture Rocks, and Loretta (Ira) Bieber of Hughesville; four grandchildren, Cody (Lauren) Houseknecht, Kevin (Alisa) Houseknecht, Ashley Montgomery, and Blaine Johnson; 11 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Scott Bennett of Hughesville.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons, Ron A. Hill and Timothy L. Hill; a daughter, Becky S. Bennett; a sister, Evelyn Minier; two grandsons, Chad L. Michael and Eric J. Michael; a brother-in law Robert McCowan; and her first husband, Stanley L. Hill.

A private graveside service will be held in Trinity Cemetery, Huntersville, at the convenience of the family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to either Huntersville United Methodist Church, c/o Carol Bower, 4533 Rabbittown Rd., Muncy, PA 17756 or Susquehanna Health Foundation, in support of Muncy Place Activity Fund, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
