Lady Mary Victoria Douglas-Hamilton was the daughter of William Hamilton, 11th Duke of Hamilton, and of his wife, born Princess Marie Amelie of Baden, the youngest daughter of Charles, Grand Duke of Baden, and Stéphanie de Beauharnais. She was married on September 21, 1869 at Château de Marchais, near Laon in northern France, to Prince Albert, only child and heir apparent of Charles III, Prince of Monaco (the future Charles I, Prince of Monaco. They had only one child, Louis, before their marriage was annulled by the Church on January 3, 1880 and civilly on July 28 1880, by the order of Prince Charles III. She was married June 2, 1880 to Count Tasziló Festetics de Tolna, who was made a Prince, with the style of Serene Highness by Emperor Franz Josef on June 21, 1911.
