After graduating from Rensselaer High School with the class of 1962, she went on to graduate from beauty school. Diana worked as a waitress at both the Trail Tree restaurant and Janet’s Kitchen, and as the bar manager for eight years at the Rensselaer Eagles Lodge.
She was a member of the Brushwood United Methodist Church in Rensselaer.
Diana is survived by her companion of thirty-eight years, Fred McEwan. Together they enjoyed wintering in Mexico Beach, Florida and spending time on the river in Branch, Michigan.
She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion Post #29 Auxiliary , and the V.F.W. Post # 1279 Auxiliary all in Rensselaer. Diana enjoyed spending time in her garden, journaling and was an avid reader.
Surviving with her dearest friend and companion Fred and her mother Bethel are her children, Karen (Robert “Dink”) Holbrook and Kimberly (Eugene) Wright, Fred’s children, Lori (Don) Fellmy and the late Jeff McEwan, all of Rensselaer; her sister, Cheryn Kolhagen of Rensselaer, and ten grandchildren, Alisha, Kyler, Keegen, Shyla, Shayna, Brayden, Jennifer, Kendra, Shelby and Tori and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her father, Diana was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Lee Britt, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday with Pastor John Hostetter officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post #29 Auxiliary or the Franciscan Hospice.
