Born in Florham Park she lived there until her marriage in 1958, when she moved to Chatham Township. For the past 56 years, she resided in Whippany where she raised her family with the help of her mother.
She was a 1955 graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth receiving a BS degree in business administration, and later attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where she completed requirements for three teaching certificates.
Jan worked for the President of Silver Burdett Company, the Administrator of Morristown Memorial Hospital, and the Director of the Educational Improvement Center, NW, prior to teaching for 16 years at the Academy of Saint Elizabeth. Following her retirement from teaching, she worked for 12 years as a medical assistant for Dr. Bradford Liva, a retinal specialist in Cedar Knolls. Even though this was a part-time job, it was the one she enjoyed the most.
Jan loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed taking care of her house, doing craft projects, as well as knitting and crocheting.
She was predeceased by her brother, Tom and her dear friend and companion of many years, Joe Stuart.
Survivors include her two sons: Steve and his wife, Tammy of Stroudsburg and Glenn and his wife Maryann of Brick; her five grandchildren: Danielle, Nicole, Keira, Deryn, Reed, one step-grandson, Kyle, and her great-grandchildren: DJ, Alana and Autumn; her sister-in-law, Kim of North Carolina, her ex-sister-in-law, Marlene of Maine, and two nieces Kathy and Lynn. She is also survived by KP that she often referred to as “my other son.”
