I cannot locate a birth record but am using 1884 instead of the 1883 listed in his obituary and on his headstone based on the fact that his family is enumerated June 12th, 1884 at "Spaulding Mill Camp" at Ashland, Newaygo County Michigan and his sister Viola is the youngest child listed - Willis is nowhere on the enumeration, therefore couldn't have been born in 1883.
