Shirley was a graduate of Ken High Class of 1953 and married to the late Donald M. Ross. Together they built a family on deep traditional values and boundless love. She was the ultimate homemaker and caregiver who filled her home with warmth. Shirley enjoyed playing cards, bingo, spending time at their family camp in Elk County and playing the slots in Atlantic City. Every guest commented on her culinary expertise. Shirley was artistic and enjoyed doing ceramics with her dear close friend, Betty Hultz. She was a woman with faith in God and a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church of New Kensington.
Shirley will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warm spirit, giving heart, sweet personality and a gracious host by her two adorning daughters, Marcia (Ross) DeCola and her husband, Jeff of Lower Burrell and Joyce (Ross) Raymond and her husband, Eric of Sewickley. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (DeCola) Crandall and her husband, Chris, Jeffrey DeCola, Alyson Raymond and Erica (Raymond) Henk and her husband, Steve. Her siblings, Gerry (Edwards) Mohney, Eadie (Edwards) Thompson and Charles R. "Bud" Edwards II, seventeen nephews, nineteen nieces and several great nephews and nieces.
In addition to her parents and her husband Donald of 63 years, Shirley was greeted in heaven by sisters, Mary (Edwards) Heigley, Thelma (Edwards) Broneman, and Betty (Edwards) Fassett.
Per Shirley's wishes, there will be no public viewing and a private service will be held at her final resting place at Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. ROSS G.
