Minerva was a daughter of Lewis and Sarah (Evans) Burcher. Minerva Burcher was probably born in Belmont County, Ohio where her parents settled before 1820. Lewis Burcher/Butcher came to Ohio from Sussex County, Delaware, where his parents, William and Rhoda (Marvel) Burcher, were married in the Coolspring Presbyterian Church at Lewes.

On 19 Dec 1844, Minerva married William Crum in Belmont County, Ohio. Children, from the census records, were David, Lewis, Henry, Francis M., Martha, Mary M., William C., and Matthew C. They lived in Elk Township, Noble County, Ohio. After Minerva died in 1866, William Crum married 25 July 1866 Margaret Durnel in Noble County.
