The astute observer will note that Sarah Jane's death date and her age-at-death, 43y, 1mo, 21d, on her grave marker are inconsistent with the birth date given above, suggesting a birth on April 16, 1849, not May 15, 1849, as reported above. Her death record reports that she was 43y, 21d when she died, suggesting a birth on May 16, 1849. We presume someone used 30-day months to do the calculation, arriving at a birth date that is one day off. Other records associated with her, including her birth date in the photo album in which Sarah Jane and her husband recorded their birth dates and the birth dates of their children, give Sarah Jane's birth date as May 15, 1849. We can only presume that someone arrived at the incorrect age-at-death by concluding that there was a full month between Sarah Jane's birth date and death date since they occurred in different months, May and June, and through this logic added the "1mo" to her age-at-death on her grave marker.
