Son of the Reverend Burgess White Covington and Ethel Grace Stucker Covington. He earned a BS degree in Agricultural Science and Engineering from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in 1951 and his MD from the University of Tennessee Medical Center in 1957. While in medical school he met Glenda Faye Veach. They were married August 18, 1956 and moved to Paulding County in December of 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James (Jim) Covington and William (Billy) Covington; and two sisters, Helen Copeland and Lucile Hyder. He leaves his wife, Glenda Covington; children, Mark (Martha) Covington, Cindy Covington, Sandra Covington, James Covington, Diana (Barry) Bickers and David (Pam) Covington; sister, Lois Lacy; and five grandchildren.
