Major League Baseball Player. For fifteen seasons (1963 to 1977), he played in the outfield with the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers. Born James Sherman Wynn, he was raised in Cincinnati where he attended Taft High School. He enrolled at Central State University where he played basketball and baseball, prior to being signed as an amateur free agent by the Cincinnati Reds in 1962. He was drafted by the Houston Colt .45s during Major League Baseball's expansion draft and made his Major League debut on July 10, 1963. During the course of his career, he achieved all star status three-times. While with the Dodgers, Wynn experienced a National League Pennant winning season and hit a home run during the 1974 World Series. In 1,920 career regular season games, he compiled 1,665 hits, with a .250 lifetime batting average. After retiring from baseball, he worked as a bartender. He later served in the Astros' organization. He was inducted into the Houston Astros Hall of Fame in 2019.
