John Hall "Bill" Helms, Jr. 84, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Bill was born September 21, 1935 in Union County, a son of the late Bill Hall Helms, Sr. and Sue Lee Helms. He served in the United States Army stationed in Germany and served as a Police Officer for the City of Monroe retiring with over 30 years of service.

During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Helms Family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to stop by Gordon Funeral Service on Monday, March 30, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to pay your respects and to avoid crowds. Funeral services will be private.

Bill is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jane Helms, two daughters, Sheila Helms of Monroe, Kimberly Helms Nicholls and her husband Scot of Monroe and three grandchildren, Sarah Nicholls, Madelin Nicholls and Jackson Nicholls.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
