Robert Snider Caudle, born July 28, 1924, passed away early Saturday morning, June 1, 2013 of natural causes at his home in Overland Park, Kansas. A lifelong musician and accomplished trumpet player, he played in numerous bands throughout the Kansas City area and at Knox Presbyterian Church where he was a member since 1970. Born in Burlington Junction, Missouri he survived the great depression and later worked at the Commonwealth Aircraft company in Kansas City during the Second World War. After the war he studied music in California before returning to Kansas City to marry his wife of fifty years and start a family. During the following decades he became a successful small business owner and pursued interests in farming and aviation. Tempered by his childhood, he remained an honest, generous, and dedicated father who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren throughout his retirement years. Always a practical and hardworking man, his later years saw an easing of life that was filled with humor and grace. We'll miss his love of model trains and planes, mid- western agriculture and of course, Hudson cars. Preceded in death by sisters Freda Richmond, Madeline Bolt, and Martha Crowley. He is survived by his wife Donna Sue Caudle, daughter Karen Caudle Anderson and husband Gregory Anderson, son Bryant Steven Caudle and wife Christine Caudle, grandchildren Nicholas Anderson, Morgan Anderson, and Audrey Caudle, all of Kansas City, nephew Thomas Crowley and niece Glenna Mourning of California, and nephew Michael Richmond of New Jersey. Visitation will be at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. on Wednesday, June 5, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., with Memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church or the Salvation Army. Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
