Mrs. Henry was born March 11, 1935, in Benham, Kentucky, the daughter of Cecil and Edith J. Tucker Anderson.
Phyllis retired as a telephone operator after more than 40 years of service from International Harvester, Bell Telephone Company and Corning Corhart.
She was a member of Beechland Baptist Church in Louisville.
She participated in the annual “Walk Through Bethlehem” in Louisville and was known for hand making all the costumes for the event.
A jack-of-all-trades, she was known most for her generosity and desire to help others.
She enjoyed sewing, crafts, fishing trips, cooking, church gatherings and family events.
The one word that describes Phyllis the most is “helper”.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, J.B. Henry; brothers, James (Vickie) Jarvis of Columbus and Jerry (Barbara) Jarvis of Batavia, Ohio; 10 nieces and 3 nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Bobbie Campbell and Juanita Richardson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Garland Brook Cemetery, 501 North Gladstone Avenue, Columbus, with Virgil Clotfelter officiating.
