Doris Ann Wagner, age 87 of Valparaiso, IN and longtime Chesterton resident passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2020. She was born on October 19, 1932 in Lackawanna, NY to Michael and Anna (Sessanna) Falcone.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Valerie (Herman "Arch") Waters, Sharon M. (James) Elliott; son, Dr. Michael A. Wagner, D.D.S.; grandchildren, Matthew and Lucas Waters, Nicholas Mitchell, Danielle and Andrew Elliott; great granddaughter, Sarah Waters; one niece, several nephews and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur S. Wagner; her parents; and all five of her sisters.
Doris above all was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton. Doris worked at the Ladies Shop, she had a great artistic ability and fashion sense. She also volunteered her services for the Moose along with St. Pat's. Doris' great passion was playing cards, bingo and being amongst her family and close friends. She will be remembered as a strong-willed, independent minded person who never treated anyone as a stranger. Due to her Italian heritage, Doris always had a warm meal to provide. Her faith and her strength will be carried on through her family.
Doris will be laid to rest at Chesterton Cemetery alongside her husband at a Private Service. Her family plans to hold a Celebration of her Life at a later time to commemorate her life with family and friends.
