She was born in Daisy, Georgia, October 8th, 1936 and was the youngest of 13 children. They later moved to a large farm near Smiley Cross Roads in Long County. While attending Long County High, she was a member of the cheerleading squad and graduated with honors in 1954. She loved to bowl and earned numerous trophies in her league while residing in Jacksonville, Florida. She also loved to swim, hunt, and fish and enjoyed several family fishing trips recently. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church of Long County, lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary 6602, member of MOCA PT 66, and charter member of DAV. She was employed at Coastal Utilities for 26 years in Hinesville, Georgia, and retired in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alaina Todd; son-in-law, Mike Norby; grandson, Andrew Green; great-granddaughter, Autumn Rayne Braun; parents, Ida Belle and S. T. Morris; brothers, Mack, E.B., Carlos, T.J., Leroy, and Ben Morris; sisters, Mae Rooks, Dora Ray, Vonceil M. Jordan, and Barbara Morris.
She is survived by husband, Stephen H. Wheeler; children, Sheree Allmon (Tom), Matt Todd, Susan Todd, Terri Breaux (David), Fabienne Houston (Chuck), and Sandra Frye (Steve); grandchildren, Allison Allmon Dixson, Katlyn Allmon Rabideau, Thomas Allmon, Jon Mark and Danielle Braun, Joey and Nicole Norby, Wendy Dunwoody, Vicky Massey, Rachel Obregon, Angela, Jacob and Bethany Green, Charlie and Ashley Croft, Elijah Clayton, Josh and Mitch Houston, Casi Thrower, Amber Middleton; 27 great-grandchildren; brother, Billy Morris (Laverne); sister, Joetta Brinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved fur-babies, Taco and Bullet.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m., Saturday, February 24th, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Hinesville Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Steve Frye, Jon Braun, Tom Allmon, Doug Williams, Robert Montgomery, and Jacob Green. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
