Ferry man during the Civil War. He transported troops across Black River in Missouri. He was hanged as a spy for aiding the Reed Gang during the Civil War. For a time, his skull was on display at Mark Twain Museum in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. It was finally buried in 1994 on the 130th anniversary of his hanging. The skull is buried in Poplar Bluff City Cemetery in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
