JEANERETTE—Memorial services will be conducted at a later date for John A. "Took" Darden Sr., 78, who passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017, at 8:38 a.m. at his residence.

He was a native of St. Mary Parish and a resident of Charenton. He was a happy outgoing people person who loved a full life and a good time. He loved his family especially his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons John A. Darden Jr. and Guy G. Darden and his companion Sarah all of Charenton; his grandchildren Holly Kidder and Taylor Alexa Darden both of Charenton; his great-grandchildren Riley and Ramey; his stepsons Alvin Trosclair and Shane Trosclair and his wife, Edmae, all of Charenton; his step daughter Chantel Picard and her husband, Donald, of Jeanerette; his step grandchildren Emily Trosclair, Nya Trosclair, Brittney Trosclair, Danielle Freeman, Shanya Trosclair, Russell Picard Jr., Ryan Picard, Dylan Picard, Natasha Picard, Trisha Sparrow and Crystal Duke; his step great-grandchildren Karlynn, Harmony, Cameron, Brayton, Bryden, Easton, Gracelynn, Isabella, Leyton, Maddlynn, Kylie, Alexis, Raylin and Landyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary LeBlanc Darden; his parents, Bennett Darden and Berttie Story Darden; his first wife, Rita Broussard Darden; and one son that died at birth.
