Japanese 121th Emperor (reign: 1846-67).
Prince of Emperor Ninko and Father Emperor Meiji.
The last emperor who throneed before a "one reign, one era name" system. Then He is also the last Emperor to spend his entire life in Heian-kyo.
He was buried in Nochi-no-Tsukinowa-no-Higashiyama-no-misasagi in the precincts of Sennyuji-temple.
