Clyde “Sug” Wilson, 91, of Hot Springs, went to be with the Lord on March 13, 2020. He was welcomed by his beautiful wife of 68 years, Kathleen Wilson, son, Butch Wilson, parents, Clyde and Hettie (Wheatley) Wilson, brother, Tom Wilson, and sister, Mary Dickson.

“Sug” was born in Hot Springs on February 13, 1929. He attended Fountain Lake High School and the University of Arkansas. A gifted athlete, he played basketball for the Razorbacks, and professional baseball for the Chicago White Sox organization in 1947 and 1948. “Sug” played amateur golf for 50 years, winning eight Arkansas championships. In 2003 he was inducted into the Arkansas Golf Hall of Fame.

“Sug” was a devoted Christian and charter member of Lake Hamilton Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder. He was owner of Wilson Furniture Store.

Loving survivors include his daughter, Mindy Wilson Crone, of Hot Springs; grandson, Chris (Kate) Wilson, of Philadelphia, PA; granddaughters, Lynn Ann Hart and Amy Baker, of Crossett; granddaughter, Kirby (Chris) Johnson, of Oklahoma City, OK; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Hettie Lou Brooks, of Hot Springs; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A Celebration of Life for “Sug” will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Mosley and Rev. Duawn Mearns officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Lake Hamilton Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
