Randolph Grady “Randy” Moore was born June 5th, 1931 to R. E. and Trixie (Farrier) Moore in Texarkana, Texas. He departed this life on May 6th, 2019 in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Randy grew up in Omaha, Texas. He attended Omaha High School and Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana followed by college at the University of Texas in Austin where he served as a Silver Spur and enjoyed his time caring for the Longhorn mascot “Bevo”. Randy also served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.

He was very active professionally with many business ventures including the oil and gas business, ranch and cattle operations, and the ownership and management of numerous banks including the family owned State Bank of Omaha. He completed his career in the real estate business working for Redfearn Real Estate in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

Randy was very civic minded and was active in upper Leadership in many organizations including the Omaha Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Pewitt Football Booster Club and School Board, Omaha Methodist Men’s Group, and the NETSEO Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America where he was honored as a “Silver Beaver” award recipient. He attended the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.

His passion in life was being a Cowboy, and more importantly, “Hanging Out” with his many Cowboy friends who he knew from all over the country. Randy was a steer roper and was the founding President of the Senior’s Championship Steer Roping Association. The Cheyenne Frontier Days established an annual scholarship in Randy’s honor in 2005. He was also honored last month by being inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame. Randy enjoyed nothing better than watching a good football game with his family along with telling a few “Tall Tales”.

Randy is survived by his four sons and their families; Tres and Jan Moore of Daingerfield, Texas, Clint and Tina Moore of Hughes Springs, Texas, Todd and Deidi Moore of Omaha, Texas and Maverick and Marla Moore of Waco Texas; four grandchildren, Dylan, Jake, Zachry and Ryan. He is preceded in death by his parents R. E. and Trixie Moore and one brother Peter Moore.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Chapel with interment to follow at the Omaha City Cemetery.
