Combined Obituary for Fred and Doreen Fowler

Doreen Fowler, 62, passed away Sunday morning, May 28th, 2017
followed by her husband, Fred, 70, who passed away in the early hours of
Memorial Day Monday, May 29th, 2017.

The pair were married on August 9th, 1974, in Afton, New York.

After many years working and raising a family in Holmes, New York, they returned to Afton, which they always considered 'home'.

The pair are survived by their children,
Gary Fowler,
Valerie and husband Kenny Robertson,
Jessica Fowler, and
Dr. Jennifer Fowler,
three grandsons, Sean, Luke, and Bear,
Doreen's three sisters, Maryanne, Kathie, and Connie,
and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was a Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as an electrician in the Marine Corps.
He was an active member of the American Legion, Post 1596 in Harpursville, New York.

Fred worked as a forklift service technician with Womack for almost 30 years before retiring.

Doreen was primarily a homemaker. She put all of her energy into caring for her family and friends. She loved animals and always had pets, ranging in size from cats to cows, and it was not unheard of to find a pig or sheep or calf being tended in the house on occasion.

Fred and Doreen loved being outside, Fred working on the tractors and various other aspects of the farm, and Doreen tending the animals and her flower gardens. Fred and Doreen were wonderful people loved by everyone they met, and they will be missed dearly.

Their family will gather to remember them at the American Legion Post 1596, in Harpursville, NY at 1 pm on Saturday, June 3rd.

In lieu of flowers they request that donations be made to the National Organization for Rare Disorders at rarediseases.org.

Doreen and Fred were friends to everyone they met. They were a close couple and they were very smart people. I've always had a great admiration for them.
