He is preceded in death by his parents, Jeffrey Davis and Myrtle (Ross) Yates; his son, Jeffrey Carl Yates; his brother, Ferrell Yates; his sisters, Lucille Brasher and Georgia Brasher.
He is survived by his wife, Rita L. (Holloway) Yates of the home; his daughter, Donna Jane Yates Bright; his brothers, Ben Yates of Coal Hill, Arkansas; Dee Yates of Coal Hill, Arkansas; his sister Avis Meadows of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and his grandchildren, Carly Bright and Sydney Bright.

A private family graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at Coal Hill Cemetery in Coal Hill, Arkansas with Reverend Stacy Looney officiating. Pallbearers are Dee Yates, Brent Yates, Ben Yates, Chad Tedford, Bob Weathers, Darrell Weathers, Steve Weathers, John Holloway, and Michael Holloway.
