He attended Norfolk State Univ. in Virginia and the Univ. of the District of Columbia, majoring in education and history. Scott was a substitute teacher for the public school system and was devoted to mentoring and encouraging young people. He was a football coach for both high school and the Boys & Girls Club. As a member of the Outreach Christian Center, Scott was a teacher in its Children's Church and a member of the Men's Fellowship. His survivors include daughter, Nya Erin; his parents; sisters, Tracy (Frederick) Johnson, Juliet (Jerome) Armstrong-Dunbar and Vinita (Darren) Chavis; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frances Vaughn; and a host of relatives and friends.
