William Guetzke was born in Falkenburg H. Pommern, Germany. On 18 Nov, 1856 when he came to America. He married Johanna Schwantes in 1857 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
They settled in the Milwaukee area and worked at the Trimborn Lime Kilns and Farm. This farm is now a Milwaukee County Park on 8881 W. Grange Ave. Greendale Wisconsin.
William and Johanna (Schwantes) Guetzke had five children. Their names are, August, Lena, Ferdinand, Robert, and Ida.
They worked in the Milwaukee area for a few years, and then moved to a farm near Golden Lake, Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. After a few years they moved back to Milwaukee and purchased a General Store on Vliet Street. William and his son Ferdinand Guetzke operated this store for many years.
William Guetzke was well known by many people near the store as a very dapper man, with a high hat and cane, as he would walk to and from his store.
