Patricia Elizabeth Kane passed away at home with her loving family by her side on March 12, 2020. She was born August 9, 1934 in Butte, Montana to James and Judy Burns. She was a Whittier Wildcat and graduated from Butte High School in 1953.

On November 26, 1955, she married Edward Kane in St. Ann’s Church and together they raised three children; Linda, Jim and Dan. Pat loved spending time with her family camping at Divide Creek, Miner’s Lake and later at her and Ed’s family cabin near Wise River.

She prepared many a delicious family dinner for every birthday, holiday and special occasion. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her Christmas trees were always a work of art. She was very proud of her family and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s activities. She was known as “GiGi” by her seven great grandchildren and she always carried a special treat in her purse for each of them.

Patricia worked at Metals Bank, Avis Rent a Car and Bernie’s Pharmacy. She was a member of St. Ann’s Parish and the Butte Historical Society. She was a Girl Scout leader and she participated in the planning of the Granite Mountain Memorial. She taught genealogical research methods to visitors at the Butte Silver Bow Archives and researched the archives for people in Ireland who requested information regarding family members who immigrated to Butte.

After retiring, genealogy became her passion as she traced the roots of the Kane/Driscoll and Burns/Waight families. She became the family historian and proudly gathered large amounts of historical documents which she compiled in the Kane/Driscoll family history book and the Kane doctor book.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward and infant son Edward Kane Jr.; her parents James and Judy Burns, her father in law and mother in law Dr. Patrick and Frances (Driscoll) Kane; sister and sister-in-law Shirley Ellis and Katherine Burns; brothers in law and sisters in law John (Madeline) Kane, Mary Lou (John) Fitzpatrick, Frances (Luke) Campeau, Dr. William (Mary Anne) Kane, Richard (Shirley) Kane, Sheila (Bob) Torpey and Mike Blinn Sr.

She is survived by her children Linda (Bob) Hodge, Jim (Debbie) Kane and Dan Kane and her grandchildren Cerissa (Ben) Sorensen, Dr. Patrick (Doris) Kane, Sam Hodge, Haley Hodge and great grandchildren Kane, Lilly, Maxwell and Hugo Sorensen and Samantha, Victoria and Kaden Kane.

She is also survived by her brother Dan Burns and brother-in-law Don Ellis in Spokane, WA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the Burns, Ellis, Kane, Fitzpatrick, Campeau, Blinn and Driscoll families.

The family would like to thank Senior Solutions staff Deacon Dan McGrath, Heather Sholey, Shimia Foreman, Holly Holm, Stacy Hovland and Dr. Paul Siddoway for their care and support.

Due to restrictions on travel and large gatherings, private services will be held for immediate family members at this time.
A special gathering will be held at a later date for family and friends to celebrate Patricia’s life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Senior Solutions Circle of Care Foundation, Butte-Silver Bow Archives, Butte Food Bank or charity of donor’s choice.
