Ms. Dorothy Mae Offield, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home in Garland, Texas Saturday evening, May 4, 2019, at the age of 83 with congestive heart failure. Dorothy was born in Frio, Texas to Anton and Rosie Barta. She worked in food service for over 25 years. She would not measure anything, just start mixing, and it always turn out tasting great. She enjoyed going to Matt's Rancho Martinez restaurant every Friday evening. They would see her coming and have her margarita waiting on the table. Other things she enjoyed to pass time were playing games, talking to and spoiling her cat, Baby, watching any kind of cop tv shows and game shows. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Rosie Barta; three brothers, Evan Barta, George Barta, and Anton Barta Jr.; one brother-in-law, Samuel Fields; one daughter, Rosie Smallwood. Dorothy is survived by two brothers, John and Rosie Barta, and Henry and Etheleen Barta; one sister, Elizabeth Fields; two sister-in-laws, Mary Ann Barta and Jo Ann Barta; two daughters, Kathy and Eddie McCreary and Barbara and Joe Rothrock; four grandchildren, Harvey and Lisa McCreary, Jenny and Joe Kaufman, Kevin Rothrock, and Kristi Rothrock; three great-grandchildren, Leah McCreary, Caleb McCreary and Gwenyth Ashley.
