HADLEY, Mary Ellen

Mary Ellen Hadley (Stoner) of Longview, WA passed away Sunday August 5, 2018 at the age of 93.

Mary was born December 5, 1924 in Bayview, Idaho to Clarence and Laura Stoner
(Bowcutt) and was raised in Camden, WA during the depression after Clarence was able to homestead land for a farm there. Mary grew up there with her younger sister, Violet and her two brothers, Harold and Charlie Richards. During WW II, Mary, Violet and Clarence all worked as part of the war effort in the shipyards in Vancouver, WA. In 1946 she married William Jarrett, living in the Camden area before moving to Oregon and then back to the Spokane area for most of her adult life. In 1979 she married Edgar Hadley while living in Harrington, WA living there until health concerns caused them to move to Longview to be near her daughter, Amy and her family there.

Mary started digging into her family tree years ago while still working (before the dawn of computers) and she was able to go back to the late 1700's. After retiring she continued this hobby and now with the new DNA tests we have been able to expand her family tree almost another 100 years and add several branches to it.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Laura; brothers Harold and Charlie; sister Violet; son Laurence; daughter Billie Sue Hall and son Mark Hall along with her ex-husband William Jarrett.

Mary is survived by her husband, Edgar Hadley in Longview; along with daughter, Cathi Gross and her son Jeff; daughter Billie Sue's sons Carson, Matthew and Michael Hall, daughter Laura Pitman, husband Rob and their children Ryan and Emma; son Dewey Jarrett, wife Patricia and their children Erin Murnan, Nick Murnan and Estelle Riley; daughter Amy Hicks, husband Mike and their children AJ, Aaron and Shannon Hicks, newlyweds Jenni and Todd Riffe, great-grandson Usiah Hicks; son Brian Jarrett, wife Donna and their children Jeremiah Jarrett, wife Jennifer and their children Alexis, Zoey and Sydney; Kylie
Jones and husband Sterling and their daughters Addie, Henley and #3 is on the way.

Cremation services will be handled by Green Hill Crematory in Longview and a celebration of life will be held at a later date in Newport, WA. The family asks that any donations be made to Community Home Health and Hospice in Longview, WA or to your local Humane Society office.
