Lois P. Smith, 89, of Loves Park, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, February 17, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was born February 1, 1931 in Neelyville, MO, the daughter of Pleasant and Freedonia (Miller) Oakes. Lois married the love of her life, Richard Smith on June 8, 1957. She was employed at Amerock 37 years. Lois loved going to the casino and playing bingo. Lois is loved and missed by her brother, Fred D. (Joyce) Oakes, and sister, Daisy E. Shivley; goddaughter, Lindsey Hearn; nephew, Jeffrey (Yamile) Oakes, and niece, Vickie Williams; grand-godchildren, Alexandria Bunting, and Joshua Garcia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, and siblings, Irene, Florence, Goldie, Viola, Mary, Roy, Lilly, and Mildred. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Advantage Funeral Home, 7000 W. State St, Rockford, IL 61102. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m., until the time of service. Burial in Willwood Burial Park.
