Life's Journey - She was a woman of many talents. Her hands were gifted. She had a special eye for interior decorating and fine things. Mother Wilson was a cosmetologist in the days of straightening combs and curling irons. She was such a lady of style and class and loved wearing church hats. Mama would be all dressed up some days with no place to go.
Kingdom Leader - Mother Wilson was one of the first members of what is now Jerusalem Holiness Church. The church was founded under the name Mt. Calvary Mission #1 where Mother Wilson served as the first treasurer under the leadership of Pastor Louise Smith.
Church Life - Mother Wilson and her husband, Deacon Sidney Wilson, were saved and served in the Bibleway Church World-wide under the leadership of Bishop and Mother Pettice. She worked diligently on the Missionary Board, Choir, and Mother Board. She later joined Tabernacle of God Bibleway church where her son-in-law, Bishop Luther Butler serves as her Pastor. Mother loved her Pastor and her church.
Loved ones lost - Mother Wilson was preceded in death by her daughter, Mother Barbara Butler and her son, Terry Tate. As well as her brother Oliver Tate Jr.
Family Life - Mother Wilson loved to boast about her family. She even had a custom-made tag that read "Let me tell you about my grandchildren." Mother Wilson was married to the late, Deacon Sidney Wilson. She was a very proud mother of 7 children. Left to carry on her legacy are Joanne Oates (Lycurgus), Minister Derrick Cunningham (Myra), Kathy Heath (Pastor Heath), Sandra and Karen Cunningham, 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 20 great great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In her eyes no family was better than hers.
Mother Wilson faced the last 3 years of illness with God-given strength and bravery. God continually answered prayers on her behalf until he was ready for her on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Within 92 years, she mad lifelong friends and always discovered distant relatives wherever she would go. She made a name for herself and leaves a legacy. Through her family and seed planted wherever she went, her memory and her works will continue to live on.
