Jerry Lynn Swaim, 71, of Amarillo passed away Monday, March 16, 2020 in Abilene, Kansas, surrounded by his family.

Graveside services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Dr. Hal Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Jerry was born September 20, 1948 in Hollis Oklahoma to Asa and Rosa Swaim. Jerry attended Caprock High School, and went on to attend Amarillo College. After school, Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army for three to four years before being honorably discharged. He married his sweetheart Gladys on August 19, 1982. They spent 38 precious years together. Jerry loved to travel, visit casinos, and spend time with his family. In his own words, he enjoyed seeing “God’s Country”. His many hobbies included taking care of his cars and he was meticulous when it came to his yard work. Jerry enjoyed food, especially his wife’s chicken fried steak. Jerry and his family kept a small family farm, loved to keep up the gardens, and canned his own produce. Jerry also loved to dance with his wife. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jerry’s daughter Kimberly, and her family for taking care of their father and mother during his last days.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Jason Swaim; one daughter, Ginger Riles.

Survivors include his wife Gladys Swaim of the home; three daughters, Charity Holland and husband Ashley, Kimberly Shry and husband Michael, Gina Swaim-Rutter and husband Alan; two sons, Asa Swaim and wife Janeth, and Jerry Swaim; three grandchildren, Elijah Holland, Damian Shry, and Maximus Shry. Survivors also include a host of additional family and friends.
