Loyd K. Bing, 83, died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006, at Southwest Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 11, 1922, to Charles and Mabel S. Davis Bing in Douglass.

He married Bennie L. Foster May 31, 1945, in Salt Lake City. She survives.

Loyd was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Upon returning, he worked at Bacon Brothers Studebaker Auto Sales/Service in El Dorado. He began working for Halliburton Energy Services in Great Bend in 1951, transferring to Hugoton in 1953 and then to Liberal in 1958. He retired in 1986 as shop foreman. He served on the advisory committee of diesel mechanics at Southwest Kansas Technical School for many years.

He was a member of the Western Avenue Church of Christ in Liberal.

He is also survived by one son, Kenneth Bing, Denver; one daughter, Vickie Crosley, Northglenn, Colo.; one grandson, Shaun Crosley; and one sister, Dorthea Bryant, Galena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jean Bing; and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Avenue Church of Christ with Pastor Wade Tannehill presiding.

Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call until 8 p.m. today, with family greeting friends from 6 to 7, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the High Plains Childrens Home, Amarillo, Texas, in care of Miller Mortuary.
